Last October was a busy, busy month! Pax & I visited the Fort Lewis College campus for the first time and enjoyed a top-notch piano/vibraphone recital. We already have tickets for more events in their concert series.
I tasted pearl sake and plum wine ice cream.
They were both pretty good, but I'd have to say I preferred the ice cream.
I attended a 2-day conference on domestic violence. It was very interesting, but it didn't really address the frustrations I have with the statistical side of things.
I then went to Phoenix for the first time and attended a 3-day crime analysis conference.
That didn't help me much with DV stats, but I did learn a lot of useful stuff, and I got confirmation that the stuff I'm learning in grad school really is valued in the professional world. On the drive down to Phoenix, I got to see Oak Creek Canyon and spend some time in Sedona. That was really neat because I got to visit one of my SMFS friends, author Kris Neri, who now owns a bookstore in Sedona. On the way back, I stopped at Sunset Point, a memorial to DOT workers killed in the line of duty, and took a few shots.
Too bad I couldn't wait around till sunset.
Let's see, what all else did I do? Oh, yeah, I went over to Detectives to watch their football game against Patrol. I even managed to get some decent photos, though I was more or less shooting blind because of the glare on the camera's screen.
